HOLLOW GOLD
EXIT STAGE LEFT
Hollow Gold is a sharp and compelling solo performance that delves into the glitz, glamour, and disillusionment of Hollywood. Following an ambitious, young actor attending their first major award ceremony, the piece explores the intoxicating mix of excitement and anxiety that comes with rising fame. Under the dazzling lights and carefully curated smiles, the reality of the industry begins to crack through.
As the actor takes the stage to accept their award, they shatter the illusion of Hollywood’s golden promises. Their speech becomes an unscripted reckoning—exposing the hypocrisy, power structures, and moral compromises that lurk beneath the industry’s glossy surface. The moment, both triumphant and incendiary, challenges the audience to reconsider the cost of success and who truly holds power in entertainment.
Drawing on inspiration from Ricky Gervais’ historic Golden Globes speeches, Hollow Gold questions the price of fame and the myths that sustain the entertainment machine. With biting wit and raw honesty, this show is both a celebration of storytelling and a confrontation of the stories we tell ourselves about success, authenticity, and artistic integrity.
